Design Check Color Coding of members makes system terribly slow

In Tekla Structures, if you work with color setup as Analysis Utility Check under setup->color, it will make the software hang.
Work around is to keep the color coding as class and for change it to anlysis utility check only when you want to review this and swithc back to old setting immediately after.

Checkered Plate Modelling

Checkered plate modelling in Tekla Structures is prone to problem if not proper attention is paid in modelling. Tekla structure doesnt have surface finish modelling hence it wouldn't diffrentiate between plates with different side hatching. The problem would occur when there are plates in model which can't be superimposed by rotation in plan but by mirroring about anyline in plan. See the example picture. The two parts would be taken as same by Tekla, and would get same part numbering. There would be only one drawing generated for the these members. Shop would cut the plates both facing up and that wouldnt fit in assembly. The problem would occur when using non rectangular plates in model which would come near column cuts.
Work Around
Work around is to put a small notch (but greater than model tollerence) in plate at top left corner. This would generate seperate numbering and drawing for plates.

Test Article

This is test of my new blog.. I am planning to post my learnings, tips and suggestion here more specific to Tekla Structures modelling and design. I want it to open for users for their discussion. Please feel free to post and discuss issues related to analysis, design, detailing, fabrication and modelling.
